Syria: the army must protect the nation from terrorists and outside meddling

The multi-religious armed forces of Syria needs to protect all Syrians from the forces of Sunni Islamic terrorism and meddling by outside nations which are intent on weakening the nation of Syria. If breathing space is given to terrorist networks then clearly outside nations, organizations, and ratlines, will continue to send military arms to Al Qaeda, the Al Nusrah Front and the so-called Free Syrian Army, which is nothing more than a mercenary army modeled on the chaotic Libyan model. Therefore, it is abundantly clear that the government of Syria is being “pressurized into a corner” for protecting all faith communities and the freedom of women.
President Bashar al-Assad and the government of Syria must remain firm against a desperate botched attempt by Islamists, mercenaries, and outside forces which desire to weaken secularism. Syria under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad maintained a society based on the rich mosaic of the Levant.
Also, the rights of women in Syria shames America and the United Kingdom who are allies of Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, despite both nations behaving deplorably towards women. This applies to the brutal reality of female servitude in Saudi Arabia and the prevention of all other religious faiths from operating in this draconian nation. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan even raped women face being put in prison and clearly the United States, United Kingdom, and other nations who intervened in Iraq, know full well that the rights of women have deteriorated rapidly since the invasion of this nation. Therefore, if the terrorist opposition succeeded it is “a done deal” that the rights of women would be crushed by an ideology which hates all notions of secularism and which would put women “in the shadows.”
Turning back to terrorism in Syria then clearly the armed forces of Syria must protect all Syrian nationals from this brutal menace. Also, the so-called Free Syrian Army which enabled the ethnic cleansing of 90% of Christians in Homs to take place; is nothing more than a mercenary armed force which is being funded by outside ratlines. This means that the armed forces of Syria must protect the civilians of this nation and continue to protect all faith communities from the threat of international jihadists.
In an article published by Reuters (Mar 8, 2012), it was stated by Russia’s deputy ambassador Mikhail Lebedev, that “Rebel groups attack, kill, torture and intimidate the civilian population. The flow of all kind of terrorists from some neighboring countries is always increasing…But at least 15,000 (terrorists).”
Mikhail Lebedev further commented that “If we demand that the Syrian government withdraw its forces from the cities without addressing the same call to the opposition we should be ready (to see) that the relevant towns will immediately be occupied by the violent armed groups.”
The ethnic cleansing of 90% of Christians in Homs and countless atrocities by terrorists and the so-called Free Syrian Army – highlights the necessity for the armed forces of Syria to protect the people of this country. This applies to defeating international terrorism and preventing mercenaries from doing the bidding of outside forces. It would be suicidal and against the unity of Syria if the armed forces pulled out while Al Qaeda, the Al Nusrah Front, and other Sunni Islamic terrorist networks, regrouped and continued to get military arms. Therefore, the government of Syria needs “genuine” guarantees that all hostile forces to the secular state will cease in their terrorist actions against the Syrian people.
All hostile elements must also promise to disengage from attacks against the people of Syria, the armed forces of this nation, to stop focusing on obtaining military weapons, and supporting covert ratlines which are weakening the nation state. After all, the government of Syria is inclusive and represents the richness of diversity within this country but the opposition is “exclusive” and is fanning the flames of sectarianism and terrorism.
Therefore, political initiatives internationally and internally can only develop providing hostile forces stop terrorizing the people of Syria and outside meddling is ended. If this materializes, then the government of Bashar al-Assad will abide by the conditions laid down by the plan put forward by Kofi Annan. However, it is incumbent on the terrorist network being dismantled and for hostile nations to respect the sovereignty of Syria.
